Section 50 Report


We have recently received a copy our final report from our Section 50 inspection which was undertaken in January 2018. We were delighted with the report and would like to thank the children, staff, governors and Dr David Ellis who conducted the inspection. The highlights of the report include:

The distinctiveness and effectiveness of All Saints as a Church in Wales school are EXCELLENT 
The prospects for improvement are EXCELLENT 
The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is EXCELLENT at meeting the needs of all learners
The effectiveness of the religious education is EXCELLENT 
The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the school as a church school is EXCELLENT

ESTYN Inspection

We have recently received notification that our school will be inspected by ESTYN during the period 4th - 7th of December 2017. The inspection gives judgements about the standards and quality at our school. It will also give us an expert outlining what we do well and how we can improve.
We are inviting you to participate by completing an online questionnaire using the link below. The questionnaires are required to be completed by 23rd November 2017. If you have any difficulties in accessing or completing the questionnaire, hard copies are available from the school office, or from ESTYN on request.

360° Safe Cymru Award
We are delighted to inform you that on Tuesday 12th September we were awarded with the 360° Safe Cymru Award. Schools who receive the award are able to demonstrate effective Online Safety provision which involves all members of the school community. We would like to thank Andrew Williams for completing our assessment and also thank everyone who took the time to speak to Andrew about our Online Safety provision. More over, we would like to thank the children, staff, parents and governors for their continued commitment to ensuring that our children stay safe online. We are very proud of this achievement!

Annual Meeting of Parents and Governors

The Annual Meeting of Parents and Governors has been arranged for Tuesday 18th November, 2014 at the school, commencing at 5.00p.m.

The meeting provides an opportunity for parents to discuss with the Governors, anything contained in the Annual Report, a copy of which is available to all parents.  In the interest of economy, it is suggested that only those parents who specifically request a copy be supplied with one.  Please signify on the attached slip if you require a copy.

1.         It is requested that only questions in relation to the report be asked.

2.         Any questions by parents be put in writing and sent to the Clerk of Governors 7 days before the meeting.

The functions of the Local Education Authority and the Llandaff Diocesan Council for Education can be discussed in relation to the school.

BBC Children in Need

Dear Parents,

As you will probably be aware, November 14th will see the annual BBC Children in Need Appeal to raise funds for disadvantaged children and young people. The theme this year is all about being a hero.

We are proud to support such a fantastic charity once again and will be calling on all the children and staff of All Saints C/W Primary School to dress up as their favourite ‘Super Hero’ for the day. 

I am mindful that this event falls close to our recent ‘Sponsored Bounce’. Therefore, should you wish to contribute, we would be pleased to accept a donation from every family, no matter how small. We hope that as many pupils as possible will be participating and look forward to seeing lots of ‘Super Heroes’ in the school.

The Chocolate Raffle
Dear Parents,

As you will aware this raffle is a long standing tradition of our school and a tremendous fund raiser. Children are invited to contribute chocolate in return for its approximate value in raffle tickets. Alternatively, they can purchase raffle tickets at 20p each. Last year, we received enough contributions in chocolate to create 75 prizes! Obviously, the chocolate raffle is one of the highlights of our Christmas celebrations and the children really look forward to it.  

 We intend to continue collecting chocolate until the penultimate week of term and the raffle will be drawn on Tuesday, 16thDecember. So, come on, please send in that chocolate a.s.a.p. The more prizes we have, the better. You never know, you might be one of the lucky winners! 

Christmas Fair

Also, a separate chocolate hamper will be raffled at the Christmas Fair on November 28th 2014 (last year this hamper raised £100!).

If you are able to run a stall or help on the afternoon of the fair, please see Charlotte Incledon (Chair PFA) or Miss Lewis / Mr. Williams via the school office. We would be so appreciative of any contributions of help no matter how small.

The Shoebox Appeal
The School Council are in charge of the Operation Christmas Child Samaritan’s Shoebox Appeal. We are hoping to collect as many boxes as possible this year and really make a difference to children’s lives that need help all over the world. To encourage children to take part, we have decided that the class with the most boxes will be rewarded with a treat. Also if you have any extra, spare shoeboxes, then we would be grateful if you could send them in too. The deadline for the shoeboxes is Friday 7th November, 2014.

Poppy Appeal 2014
Poppies are now available for purchase in school and will remain on sale until the end of Tuesday 11th November. We suggest a minimum donation of 20p for the traditional poppy.

This year we have a selection of items for purchase including Royal British Legion friendship bracelets, flexi rulers, hair clips, pencils, erasers and reflective tags. The suggested donation prices are between 50p and £1.00.

PFA Meeting
Please come along on Thursday 23rd October at 3:45 pm in the Staffroom to share ideas for fundraising and to plan events for the forthcoming year.

Please don't worry if you are unable to attend every PFA meeting, or can only offer help on the day of the event.  We are grateful for every bit of help no matter how small or large.

Forum for parents of children/young people with additional learning needs
Thursday 6th November 6th - (10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.) at the HUB, YMCA Building, Court Road, BARRY
The purpose of this forum facilitated by SNAP Cymru, will be to give families the opportunity to consult with teams from the Inclusion Service. 
Families will be able to access general advice and information related to their child. 
Places are limited so booking is advisable, please contact  Kristina Paliokaite on 029 20 384868 for further details. 
Confirmation classes for adults
As you may be aware, during the autumn term, Rev. Emma Rees leads confirmation lessons with the Y6 pupils at All Saints School as part of their R.E. curriculum.  As a result of this, Rev. Emma has offered to lead an adult confirmation class at school every Wednesday for the next 7 weeks. The classes will take place at school at 2.45pm and finish at 3.25pm to coincide with the end of the school day. 

In addition, parents are invited to attend a meeting with ESTYN inspectors on Monday 4th December 2017 at 3.45pm in the school hall. The meeting should last for about an hour. 

Both the questionnaire and the meeting play a key part in the inspection process, and help the inspectors to gain a deeper understanding of life at All Saints C/W Primary School. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate your support in participating in both activities.
