INSET Day fun @ All Saints
On Friday 13th February a number of Year 6 pupils gave up a day of their holiday to come into school to work with staff from our own school as well as teachers from a number of different schools from across the consortium.
The children were there to help lead the training on both Hwb+ and LEGO education during an INSET Day. The children gave an excellent presentation about how they utilise Hwb+ and LEGO education into their daily learning and how it has helped them. They also referred to how it is suitable to different peoples learning styles and the impact it has had on the engagement and motivation of their classmates.
After the presentation the children led workshops on both LEGO education WeDo and BuildToExpress sets. They had planned challenging activities for all the staff and showcased the different ways LEGO can be used across the curriculum and also across the key stages.
The children also helped staff to develop ways of utilising Hwb+ into their daily practise and create transformational learning opportunities for pupils that can be experienced both at home and in school. The children encouraged teachers to use Hwb+ to allow pupils to upload own documents from home or anywhere else, work collaboratively with family members on tasks and also celebrate and share their own learning.
Everyone was impressed by the way the children start a piece of work at school and then share it with friends and family and complete it at home. As a result staff actively looked at ways to encourage pupils to work with their friends and share ideas about their work to truly personalise their own learning.
All the staff and the teachers from the other schools were blown away by the professional manner of the Year 6 children and learnt a great deal from them. It was an enjoyable day for everyone and showed that collaboration and sharing of ideas is the key to successful learning no matter your age!
