The start of the school year has seen our new LEGO Ambassadors selected and they have already been very busy.

We have selected our new chair, vice-chair, secretary and digital link members.  Congratulations to TB, PW, MS & SA on their new appointments, we know you will do a fantastic job.

We have been thinking of new building challenges and ways to get more LEGO into every classroom.  Our challenge for this half term is linked to our values and it is for pupils to use LEGO bricks to demonstrate what healthy living means to them.  We will be giving away prizes for the best entry.

We have completed our LEGO Ambassadors board in the Y2 corridor and would encourage all parents to come along and have a look at it when they visit the school on parents evening.

The LEGO Ambassadors have also helped to sort out LEGO bricks that have been donated to school.  As a result we now have some LEGO bricks that can be used by all the pupils during break times and lunchtimes.  It is fantastic to see so many people building and express their ideas with LEGO around the school.

We have also been in contact with the LEGO store in Cardiff and hopefully we will get the chance to visit them soon – so watch this space!!!

Recently our school LEGO ambassadors and LEGO club members were given a wonderful opportunity to visit the LEGO store in Cardiff.

Eighteen very excited children and teachers were treated to an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the store.

They were shown all the different product ranges in the store, built mini figures of themselves that they were able to take home and also took part in an array of building challenges.

They were able to ask store manager Mark Cummings questions about the store and were told a little about the history of LEGO since its development in Billund, Denmark and how the Kristiansen family founded LEGO.

It was an incredible morning and has inspired the school LEGO ambassadors and LEGO club members to create new, engaging and exciting LEGO experiences for all the pupils to enjoy.

Llysgenhadwyr LEGO / LEGO Ambassadors - Blog 2

We have been meeting at regular intervals and have come up with some fantastic ways to engage everyone, young or old in LEGO and of course LEGO learning.

We have been working on our action plan for the year and we have listed our top priorities.

We would like to:
  1. Create our own display board with mini figures of ourselves on it
  2. Visit the LEGO store in Cardiff
  3. Build a whole school large scale model out of LEGO
  4. Visit Billund to see the home of LEGO!!!

We have a feeling that some might be easier to achieve than others, but as our motto says “Er ein bod yn fach, ni'n llwyddo i adeiladu pethau mawr" - "We may be little but we build big things!”

We have also mapped out what we would like to see in every classroom and also what the LEGO lounge should look like.  We are also discussing ways to get our governors, parents and community members more involved in our committee and would welcome any help.

If you have any suggestions please contact the school –allsaintsps@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

We have now agreed on the format and design of our LEGO ambassadors badge but are still in the process of finalising our LEGO ambassadors logo.  Please keep an eye on this blog to see our latest developments and to find out the exciting things that we will be doing.

We will hopefully have some exciting news very soon!

Llysgenhadwyr LEGO / LEGO Ambassadors - Blog 1

As part of our Senedd groups we have formed a LEGO committee and have formed the Llysgenhadwyr LEGO / LEGO Ambassadors for All Saints C/W Primary School.

Our Llysgenhadwyr LEGO / LEGO Ambassadors have been meeting at regular intervals to look at ways to engage all pupils in LEGO and of course LEGO learning.

In our meetings we have created a Llysgenhadwyr LEGO / LEGO Ambassadors motto.  Our motto is:

“Er ein bod yn fach, ni'n llwyddo i adeiladu pethau mawr"
"We may be little but we build big things!”

We have allocated roles and responsibilities for the LEGO and We have elected a chair, a secretary and also a vice chair.  They will help run meetings with Mr W and the chair will be our elected member at the school Senedd.

As a committee we will look at ways to integrate LEGO into learning across the whole school and also involve our families and members of the community in using LEGO for learning.  We have also looked what we would like to see in the LEGO lounge and how we can promote our work around the school.

Keep an eye on this blog to see our latest developments and to find out the exciting things that we will be doing.
