On Friday 29th January, All Saints Primary School had a wonderful ‘Only Men Allowed’ Day.  We welcomed Dads, Brothers, Uncles, Granddads and other male role models to classes so they could immerse themselves in an action packed day of learning.
The school was filled to bursting point as these gentlemen undertook a wide range of activities.  In Nursery the guests built dens in the outdoor area.  Reception were ‘roar-some’ as they invented and created dinosaurs.  Year 1 had invited Dads in to talk about their jobs and also spend time reading with their family members.
Year 2 worked very hard to creating enchanting Fairy Tale castles out of recycled materials and things really heated up in Year 3 as they made working volcanoes.  Not to be outdone one Dad actually brought in lights and a smoke machine for the activity!
In Year 4 and Year 5 the guests undertook a variety of activities including the ‘Spaghetti Tower Challenge’.  It really encouraged teamwork with everyone sharing ideas.  A few teams were in a bit of a twist but Miss Saunders was heard counselling them by asking them for ‘ a Penne for their thoughts’!  Everyone really enjoyed themselves and it proved a resounding success.
Year 6 held a very popular ‘Pies and a Pint’ event.  With the guests undertaking maths challenges, with a pint of squash and a pork pie.  They also had the opportunity to have fun with the green screen and build models from our LEGO education EV3 and WeDo sets.
It was a wonderful day and a real privilege to see families working together to inspire our pupils.  At All Saints Primary School we understand the importance of family taking an active role in our pupils life long learning and realise that family is not only the link to our past but also the bridge to our future!
