Our LEGO leaders work with Springwood Primary School

We were very fortunate to have a visit from Springwood Primary School in Cardiff during the last week of term.

A selection of our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils run a variety of LEGO workshops for the pupils and staff from Springwood Primary.

Our pupils shared their expertise in using Build To Express (BTE) sets across the curriculum.  BTE empowers pupils of all abilities to creatively communicate their thoughts and feelings. Pupils are tasked with buildings models that illustrate their understanding of various curriculum concepts.

They also showcased the WeDo and Simple and Powered machine kits we have in school.  WeDo is a fantastic, simple-to-use tool that enables students to learn, construct and then bring their models to life. Simple and Powered machines is a hands-on tool that helps students to investigate everything from basic mechanical principles to advanced motor-powered machines while also acquiring key insights in science, maths, engineering, and technology.

In the afternoon we were able to use our LEGO education EV3 sets to help build robots.  LEGO EV3 enables pupils to build, program and test their solutions based on real-life robotics technology.

It was a fantastic day and our pupils were incredible ambassadors for the school.  We would like to thank Springwood Primary for making the day so successful and we look forward to working with them in the future.
