This week, Reception were in their element performing in their Class Assembly about Mother’s Day.  They were so excited/cyffrous about their first Assembly ever, practising really hard both at home and at school.

Each child read a piece from Anthony Brown’s book ‘My Mum’, which is filled with beautiful similes and imagery about Mums.  Songs, hymns and poems were sung and recited about loving our Mums. They remembered their well-rehearsed lines, they spoke with loud, clear and steady voices using expression and actions, demonstrating their superb oracy skills.

In class, the children  were, videoed answering questions about their Mums, what they liked to do with them and what they think their Mums jobs are. The children spoke with love, great honestly and humour and had the audience rolling in the aisles! Reception would like to say a big diolch/thank you to Mr Williams for putting the film together for us. The children think you are a real film producer!

Reception wanted to show their Mums just how much they love them, by giving them some flowers, tied with love. They presented these flowers to their Mums during the Assembly, to the backdrop of music and a slideshow of the children’s wonderful year so far in Reception. There was not a dry eye in the house! The children also made wonderful watercolour portraits of their Mums, which they gave as cards.

They did themselves, their teachers, the school, Parents, Grandparents and most importantly of all their Mums, very proud.
