It’s been a busy time in Year 3 this half term and the children have been enjoying getting their teeth into our new topics. The children have been investigating electricity and circuits and have been busy planning an investigation based on conductors and insulators.

As part of Ani-Bullying week and our friendship Values day the children wrote some fantastic poems based on friendship, they have made some friendship bracelets and some very thought provoking anti-bullying posters.

One of our maths topics has also helped us track where Santa will be travelling this year. The children loved finding the symmetry of flags of different countries of the world for their homework and this inspired us to take it one step further. They had a fantastic time researching flags of different countries, finding their lines of symmetry and learning how to say Merry Christmas in the country’s language. They also used the internet to find images of different landmarks. Year 5 helped us by showing us how to use Comic Life to present our work and our work will now be displayed around our map of the world in the classroom.

Talking of Santa, we have our Santa’s workshop role play area up and running. They have used many maths skills; packing, weighing and measuring presents and they are improving their observation skills by monitoring Santa’s cctv live link.
