Time flies when you’re having fun! It is hard to believe that we are at the end of our second week in year 6 already! Along with Mrs Robinson, we have been helping our new teacher, Mr Davies, settle in to life at All Saints and are looking forward to a successful and exciting year together.

We have identified targets for ourselves and made a plan of how those targets will be achieved this year. Our faith is very important to us at All Saints and we have written our own prayers to use before lunch and at the end of the day.

We have also thought the responsibilities that a year 6 pupil has and the expectations that are placed on year 6 pupils in terms of being positive role models for the rest of the school.

In our lessons so far we have, looked at the power of having a ‘growth mindset’ towards our learning, answered difficult ‘Thunk’ questions and have been busy writing speeches for the different roles and responsibilities we have in year 6, e.g. school council, school ambassadors, LEGO leaders, Eco-committee etc.

In maths, we have been multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100 and 1,000 and discovered what happens to the value of each of the digits when this happens. In English, we have been developing our VCOP skills and have completed comprehension, grammar and handwriting tasks. We have also started our Science topic of drugs and bugs, which looks at Microbes

This week, we have started the ‘Learn to Swim’ program at Barry Leisure Centre as part of our PE curriculum and although we have found it tiring, we are really enjoying this opportunity and are getting better every day. (The girls are far quicker at getting ready than the boys!)
