On 11th January 2018, Year 3 visited Cardiff Reform Synagogue. On arrival at the synagogue, we were greeted by two volunteers who welcomed us into their place of worship and gave the children a kippah (type of cap for the head) to wear. As it is a Reform synagogue the girls are treated the same as the boys so the girls were able to wear the kippah too! We all sat in the pews and were told many interesting facts about the Jewish faith. The children sat and listened intently. As a result, they were allowed to go up onto the special platform and see the Torah up close. Other items were also shown to the children and it was just wonderful to be inside this very special building. The children were complemented on how well they behaved and when we returned to school we made thank you cards and sent them to the Synagogue.
