Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed our Children’s Rights Day. As a class, the children discussed the term “rights” and how it applies to them personally, in the classroom, locally, and globally in the world. The children will also learnt that for every right there is a responsibility, which is our Value for this half term.  Working in groups, the children sorted pictures into what they thought are ‘needs’ and what are ‘wants’. We soon realised that although we liked McDonalds take away, it is not a need!
We drew our own pictures of ‘wants’ and ‘needs’. There is a display of all our pictures in our cloakroom.
Then we had a very unusual visitor who didn’t speak our language. He wanted to find out about children’s rights. We put all our pictures in his suitcase so that he could take them back to the planet Zorp!
