On Tuesday 9th December Year 4 donned their Victorian costumes and set off to Cardiff Castle for a Victorian Christmas adventure.

We arrived at Cardiff Castle to be met by our two hosts for the day, who escorted us to the Education Room.  We learnt all about Victorian Christmas customs and traditions.  We then had the opportunity to make our own Victorian Christmas decorations.

We painted a pinecone with traditional paint and also created our own Victorian Christmas card from lace doyleys and pictures.

After we had our lunch we were able to look at all the different birds of prey in the castle and were then treated to an exclusive tour.

We were shown all around the castle including the tower garden, the private staircase and the main dining room.  Timon our school mascot sat in the same chair as Barack Obama when he visited Cardiff Castle.

We had a wonderful day and learnt a great deal about what it was like to have a Victorian Christmas.
